Forensic Geology/Hydrogeology is a field in which the consultant reviews the work completed to-date at a contaminated site, evaluates its accuracy and completeness, and then designs the additional investigative work necessary to accurately and completely form an accurate Site Conceptual Model (SCM).

The additional investigative work may consist of any or all of the following procedures:

The purpose of forensic site work is to determine what is really going on in the site subsurface. This is necessary in order to properly serve the property owner/responsible party and to obtain closure of the site as quickly and economically as possible. When the Lead Agency is presented with accurate and reliable data, they will close the site.
